New Site! Well, sort of.

New Site

I know, it looks quite a bit like the old one, with a few new fancy features and tweaks to the layout. Ever since it’s initial launch last August (2010), I’ve had a few principle issues with the build and design, and have been putting a great deal of thought into what I wanted to change, and how I wanted the new version to function.

First of all, this blog. I had been experimenting with Tumblr integration quite a bit, and was successful in figuring out how to implement it, but wasn’t able to work all the bugs out. After MUCH more tinkering with it, I’ve got it running smoother, and I plan on using it as a platform for more process-focused posts, rather than just an image dump (I’ll still share images, don’t fret).

Secondly, I felt like the site was a bit cold. Logo, portfolio, contact. That’s all it really was. I loved the simplicity of it, but more and more I’m trying to build relationships with my clients. Oftentimes I don’t even meet my clients, and we communicate entirely over email, phone, and Skype, so the relationships feel a bit too clunky and impersonal at times. This is why I included a bit more personal information about myself.

Finally: my style, my brand. I finally got around to printing business cards this winter (yes, I was a graphic designer without my own business cards). I was so busy making cards for everyone else, that I didn’t even have time to make my own! Crazy. I ended up using the phrase “Chris Pecora makes stuff,” on them, which is something I believe works well for me. It’s got a bit of a playful edge to it, and it speaks the truth without pigeon holing me as simply a one kind of creative-type. I offer more than simple print & web design services, I also am a photographer, notebook crafter, wood-burner, printmaker, & painter. It all falls into the category of “stuff.”

Thanks for checking out the new site, and be sure to bookmark the blog if you’d like to stay in the loop with the on-going going-ons, giveaways, and commentary on design, bikes, and anything else I feel like rambling on about.

Cheers,
Chris Pecora
